My personal favorite picks that I hope you read the most are highlighted.

Life

(lyfe) Noun

The most eloquent poet, the most skillful composer, the most profound teacher, and the most beautiful muse.

Love

[ləv] noun

The catalyst for change. The soil, water, and sunlight whereby growth is produced in a being.

Though I am young, love has been a consistent theme of my childhood and young adulthood from the love my mother showered me with, to the love my father did not know how to give, to the first love I lost after a broken engagement.

“Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.” - Marcus Aurelius

Death

While I statistically have much life yet ahead of me, I have been inspired by meaningful phrases such as “memento mori” and the works of many classical philosophers to confront my own mortality early on. The aforementioned influences, along with Dr. Irvin D. Yalom’s book Staring at the Sun, have left a significant, distinctive mark on my writing and I owe my existential awareness and creativity to them.

After almost enrolling as a Philosophy and Religion major in college, I have been deeply intrigued by the bigger questions of life, including faith and God (at one point, almost joining Seminary). Coming up in a Nondenominational household, a strictly Southern Baptist K-8 school, and then a Catholic high school, I have learned to wrestle with my faith and allow it to evolve. Now somewhere within the hopeful agnostic sphere, I write about doubt, hope, feeling misplaced in religion, and learning that faith is less about the rigid black-and-white and more about the evolutionary grey between it all.
